Case Study
Irvine Hospitality
A hospitality-grade storefront and admin for FF&E procurement β transforming a legacy brochure site into a modern B2B e-commerce platform with catalog management, order tracking, and industry-standard workflows.

Legacy brochure site in a visual-first industry
Irvine Hospitality operates in the FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) and OS&E (Operating Supplies & Equipment) procurement space, serving hotels, resorts, and hospitality projects from Newport Beach, California.
Their previous website was a static brochure that couldn't showcase their product catalog effectively, didn't support online ordering, and required manual updates for every product change. In an industry where procurement teams evaluate suppliers based on catalog quality and ordering efficiency, a static site was losing them opportunities.
They needed a platform that spoke the language of hospitality procurement β brand submittals, value engineering, prototype approval, post-occupancy support β while providing the catalog management and order visibility that modern B2B buyers expect.
Goals
- Transform static brochure into a professional product catalog
- Enable catalog authoring and categorization without developer help
- Give sales and logistics teams real-time order visibility
- Reflect premium B2B hospitality branding throughout the UI
- Improve SEO for FF&E and hospitality procurement queries
Constraints
- Hospitality-specific terminology and workflows must be accurate
- Image-heavy product pages must load fast for procurement teams
- Admin panel needs role-based access for different team functions
- Must scale as product catalog grows over time

What we built and why
Hospitality Product Catalog
Server-rendered product and category pages with hospitality-specific taxonomy β FF&E categories (casegoods, seating, lighting, textiles), OS&E categories (linens, amenities, kitchen equipment), and custom specification grids with lead times. Product pages use industry terminology that procurement teams recognize.
Role-Based Admin Dashboard
Catalog editors manage products, upload imagery, and update specifications. Order managers track orders through status stages (Pending β Confirmed β In Production β Shipped β Delivered). Data exports feed into existing logistics and accounting workflows. Each role sees only their relevant controls.
Premium B2B Storefront
The design communicates 'established hospitality supplier' β not 'generic online store.' Clean typography, generous whitespace, and professional product photography presentation. The UI follows hospitality procurement conventions: brand submittals, value engineering workflows, and project-based ordering.
Performance-First Media
Cloudinary handles product imagery with automatic format conversion (WebP/AVIF), responsive sizing, and quality optimization. CDN caching for product and category pages with cache-bust on catalog updates ensures fast loads even during procurement season traffic spikes.

Why we chose each tool
Next.js + SSR
Server-rendered product and category pages for SEO in the hospitality procurement space. FF&E buyers search specific product categories β server rendering ensures every category page is indexed and ranks for industry queries.
Node.js Backend
API layer for catalog management, order processing, and admin authentication. Serverless functions handle form submissions and inquiry routing without dedicated infrastructure.
Role-Based Admin Dashboard
Sales teams manage product listings, update specifications and lead times, process orders, and export data for logistics and accounting. Role-based access ensures catalog editors and order managers see only their relevant views.
Cloudinary Media Pipeline
Hospitality products are sold on visual quality β furniture, fixtures, and equipment need high-resolution imagery that loads fast. Cloudinary delivers WebP/AVIF with responsive widths, keeping product pages under 2s LCP.
CDN + Cache Strategy
Product and category pages are cached at the CDN edge with cache-bust on catalog updates. This handles traffic spikes during procurement seasons without server scaling.
