4 Design Mistakes That Kill Products

These are the patterns we see in products that look good on Dribbble but fail in production. If any of these sound familiar, your design process has a gap.

Designing for stakeholders, not users+
What it looks like

The CEO loves the homepage but customers can't find the pricing page. Internal teams approve designs based on personal taste, not user behavior data.

How we solve it

We validate designs with user research — not just stakeholder feedback. A design the CEO loves but users can't navigate is a failed design. We bring data (heatmaps, session recordings, A/B test results) to design reviews.

Mobile as an afterthought+
What it looks like

The desktop version is polished. The mobile version is the desktop layout squeezed into 375px — unreadable text, tiny buttons, horizontal scrolling.

How we solve it

We design mobile-first for content-heavy sites (60%+ of traffic is mobile). Desktop gets the same care, but mobile isn't a resize — it's a separate design with different layouts, navigation patterns, and content priority.

Ignoring empty and error states+
What it looks like

The dashboard looks great with 50 data points. With zero data points, it shows a blank white page. When an API call fails, nothing happens — the user stares at a spinner forever.

How we solve it

We design every state: loading, empty, error, success, partial data, expired session. These states are where user trust is built or lost. An empty state with a clear 'Add your first project' CTA converts better than a populated dashboard with no guidance.

Too many options, not enough direction+
What it looks like

The settings page has 40 toggles. The onboarding flow asks 12 questions. Every feature ever built is visible in the navigation. Users feel overwhelmed and churn.

How we solve it

Progressive disclosure — show users what they need at each stage, not everything at once. First-time users see a simplified version. Power users can access advanced settings. The default experience should work for 80% of users without configuration.

What We Design

Not just screens — complete experiences from first visit to daily use.

Marketing Websites

Landing pages and multi-page websites designed around a single goal: converting visitors into leads. We structure content hierarchy based on how people actually scan pages (F-pattern, Z-pattern), not how stakeholders want to arrange features.

SaaS Dashboards

Data-rich interfaces where information density matters. We design dashboards that surface the 5 metrics users need immediately, with progressive disclosure for deeper data. Includes table design, chart selection, filter patterns, and empty states.

Mobile Applications

iOS and Android app design following platform-specific guidelines. Thumb-friendly navigation, gesture interactions, notification patterns, onboarding flows, and offline states. Not desktop layouts squeezed into a phone screen.

E-commerce Interfaces

Product pages, category layouts, checkout flows, and cart experiences designed to reduce abandonment. Every click between 'add to cart' and 'order placed' is optimized — address autofill, saved cards, order summary, trust signals.

Design Systems

Component libraries in Figma with documented variants, spacing tokens, color scales, and typography. Built for teams maintaining products over years, not one-off projects. Includes usage guidelines so designers and developers stay consistent.

Product Redesigns

Systematic improvement of existing products. We audit current UX metrics (completion rates, drop-off points, support tickets), identify the highest-impact issues, and redesign section by section — not a big-bang relaunch that alienates existing users.

Design Pricing

Clear pricing based on what you need. Design-only or design + development — we'll recommend the right scope.

Design Questions

The questions founders and product managers ask before investing in professional design.

We already have a developer. Why do we need a separate designer?+
Developers solve engineering problems — they can build anything you describe. The problem is knowing what to describe. Without research-backed design, you end up with a product where features work but users can't find them, where the signup flow has 7 steps when it should have 3, where the dashboard shows 40 metrics when users only need 5. A designer decides what to show, what to hide, and when — before your developer writes a line of code. The cost of redesigning after development is 4–10x higher than designing first.
We need a website, not a 'design system'. What's the minimum we should get?+
For a marketing website (5–15 pages): wireframes for key pages + hi-fi Figma designs + mobile versions. That's ₹30,000–₹60,000 and takes 1–2 weeks. You don't need a full design system unless you have a product (SaaS dashboard, app) with reusable components. We'll tell you upfront which level of design investment makes sense for your project — we don't upsell design systems to businesses that need a landing page.
How is your design process different from a freelancer on Fiverr?+
A freelancer gives you screens — a Figma file with pages that look good in a screenshot. What's missing: user flow mapping (does the signup → onboarding → first value path actually make sense?), responsive design for all breakpoints (not just desktop), interaction states (loading, empty, error, edge cases), and developer handoff with specs. A screen that looks great in a portfolio can be unusable in production. We design the full experience, including the states nobody sees in a Dribbble shot.
Can you redesign our existing product without breaking what works?+
Yes, and this is the most common engagement we take. We start by auditing what's working (which pages have good retention, which flows have high completion rates) and what isn't (where users drop off, what gets support tickets). The redesign preserves successful patterns and fixes the broken ones. We use progressive rollout — redesign one section, test it with real users, then move to the next. Your existing users won't wake up to a completely unfamiliar product.
Do you design mobile apps or just websites?+
Both. For mobile apps, we follow Apple HIG (iOS) and Material Design (Android) guidelines — not just making desktop layouts smaller. Mobile design has different constraints: thumb reach zones, gesture navigation, notification patterns, offline states. If you're building a cross-platform app (React Native or Flutter), we design once with platform-specific adjustments rather than two completely separate designs.
What do we get at the end of the project?+
A complete Figma file with: all pages designed for desktop, tablet, and mobile breakpoints; an interactive prototype your team can click through; a component library (if applicable) with documented variants; exported assets (icons, illustrations) in production-ready formats; and annotated specs for your developer. If we're also building the frontend, the handoff is internal — zero lost-in-translation issues.
How long does a UI/UX design project take?+
Marketing website (5–15 pages): 1–2 weeks. SaaS product design (dashboard, user flows, settings): 3–5 weeks. Mobile app (iOS or Android): 3–6 weeks. Full product redesign: 4–8 weeks. These include research, wireframes, visual design, and revisions. We do 2 rounds of revisions per phase — enough to get it right without endless iteration cycles.
